Peanut Butter Frosting

peanut butter frosting

This peanut butter frosting is the perfect topper for our chocolate cake recipe. What could be better than chocolate and peanut butter? It’s the perfect combination.

This recipe makes enough for a two layer nine inch cake or to frost thirty cupcakes. Another great addition to this is some chocolate ganache. I recently made a birthday cake for a friend with this frosting on top of a chocolate cake with chocolate ganache drip effect. It came out great and everyone loved it.

Give it a try and leave me a comment with your results.

This easy peanut butter buttercream frosting is the perfect topper for chocolate cake or chocolate cupcakes.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter softened
  • 2 1/4 cups peanut butter (creamy)
  • 4 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  • Beat the butter and peanut butter with an electric mixer at medium speed until blended.

  • Reduce the speed to low and gradually beat in the powdered sugar and vanilla.
  • Add heavy cream, increase the speed to high and beat for 3 to 5 minutes.  The cream will make the frosting light and fluffy but it will still stand up well for piping.
  • Spread on cakes, or pipe onto cupcakes.

Notes

I tend to make adjustments to this to get the consistency the way I want it.  Add a bit more powdered sugar for stiffer frosting.  Add more heavy cream to soften if necessary.
